Occasionally I need Occasion wear!
I’m starting my blog with a first post about occasion wear. It’s definitely the season for it, we have a couple of weddings in July and this week I went to the Henley Regatta for the first time. A dear friend invited the husband & I for a day of lunch, bubbles and lots of rowing! The weather was lovely and it was so wonderful to have baby free time, a rarity these days and we enjoyed every minute. The atmosphere at Henley is vibrant & colourful. But for me the real excitement is all in the chance to dress up, (as a full time mum of a 2 year old, dressing up these days is weetabix free clothing & ACTIVE WEAR 😂).

So with the dress code knowledge that skirt length must be over the knee, (errrr…) and I didn’t have to wear a hat (so obviously I want to) I set about planning the outfit. It needed to be stylish yet comfortable (memories of wearing my treasured Louboutins to a wedding last year and literally hobbling like gollum by the end of the evening has taught me, NEVER AGAIN! ) That in mind I have decided to wear the same dress ( bringing total wear so far now to 2!) #winning. I had narrowed my choice down to 2 options, one being a recent purchase from H&M, navy polka dot off shoulder number (I wear with shoulders up so I can wear a bra and it’s even better) The other is, as I mentioned, the dress I wore to the wedding last year. It’s a gorgeous dress from the asos.com tall range (fabulous selection for us taller girls) and suits the occasion perfectly! Asos is my go to site for everything. Such a huge selection & next day delivery. The fact they make returns so simple is everything & keeps my custom so loyal. (You may notice this from my instagram) this dress was also in the sale at the time and less than £40! 🙌🏻

As I needed shoes that I could actually walk in, (which Is always a good look), I set about finding a bargain pair! I don’t really have much use for high heeled black sandals/courts these days (shocker as I spend most days at the play park- wild) & as it was too late for an online order I headed to my local New Look & found the perfect shoes for £19.99 (strappy pointed toe shoe pictured) they had such a great selection, I may go back for the strappy barely there sandals too. Having worn the shoes for the day which involved lots of standing they were a dream. So comfortable yet sexy & stylish.
I also found this gorgeous straw hat in & other stories, for just £19. It’s super lightweight yet great quality, well structured, and this will get lots of use over the summer as I do love a hat.

So l was all Set. As wedding season is upon us it’s always worth taking a look at a previous wedding outfit and updating it with new accessories. A different hat, bag, corsage and shoes can entirely change the look. Perhaps adjust the length or change/remove the sleeves. Statement earrings & styling your hair up can create such a change. Just remember to wear shoes you can last the day in & leave the party as stylishly as you arrived.
Quick selfie before I left!
Thanks for reading. As this is my first blog I’d really appreciate any feedback or comments.
